BeeHive Homes of Andrews Texas participated in the annual Community Christmas Parade. This year was perhaps even more meaningful as many – including those of BeeHive Homes – honored the lives of band director Darin Johns and educator Marc Boswell, who were killed in a tragic bus accident while the band was traveling to a football game in Springwater November 21.
Litina Griffin, the administrator of the BeeHive Homes in Andrews, decided to show support for the band by entering a float in the parade. Many of the students who were aboard the bus at the time of the accident, were also able to participate.
Litina shared these comments regarding the parade: “There was a HUGE Christmas Parade where 50 high school marching bands from across Texas , a total of 1,526 students, came in to support our Andrews Band that was in the bus crash where we lost our band director and several of our kids were injured. Our Beehive home built a float for the injured kids to ride because they could not March in the parade. We were placed first in line behind the band and had the best float out of all 50! Our employees worked hard to support the band kids and make a spectacular Isle of misfit toys float for the parade. All of the staff made costumes and looked amazing. I am very proud of my team. They came together to show love and support to families and kids in our community. We even made the CBS 7 News! Check out or Beehive of Andrews Facebook page for videos of our float in action! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Darin Johns and Marc Boswell during this Christmas season. And a big thank you to Litina, her BeeHive team and the band students for building such an amazing float for the Christmas parade and representing BeeHive Homes so well in the community.
